NEW WORKSHOP: Get The Substack You've Always Wanted!
Stop wondering why some people’s Substacks are so appealing while yours still looks and functions like it's fresh out of the box.
How many of you showed up on Substack your first day and thought you could just sit down, write some stuff, and make some dough?
But the minute you created a profile, the “system” slapped you with a mile-long checklist that mostly left you with a glazed-over look and thoughts of, “Nope. Not today, Satan!”
I get it!! It can be intimidating to play with settings and design without fear of accidentally hitting a “self-destruct” button. It’s almost easier to leave it alone rather than risk imploding your newsletter, right? 😂
The more Substackers I work with, the more I’m aware that not everyone realizes this platform's capabilities for how it looks, feels, and functions. There’s no way to merely SKIM through setting up your Substack and have it look and perform the way you want.
It’s Substack spring cleaning time!
In the last quarter of 2024, we held two separate workshops: One dashboard day and one homepage makeover day. Attendance for both was amazing, but one thing I noticed was plenty of overlap.
Questions from both workshops (not surprisingly) overlapped between backend setup and front page design.
So…spring is upon us, and I figure the best plan for a Substack sneak attack is to offer one big spring-cleaning workshop. We’re tackling our dashboards and homepages in one swoop.
It sounds daunting, I know.
However, based on what I learned from offering two separate workshops, it will be very beneficial to cover both topics at once.
Who is Substack spring cleaning for?
This is a live group session for anyone who wants a complete run-through of their dashboard settings AND wants to know how to make their homepage look beautiful and function in a way that benefits their readers.
Whether you’re brand new on Subtack and need a jumpstart or you’ve been here a while but have put much of your to-do list on the back burner, this day is for you.
I have done enough of these run-throughs one-on-one with Substackers to know that their general outcome afterward is RELIEF.
When is this relief happening?
We’re meeting on Saturday, March 8th, 2025 at 2 p.m. EST (11 am PST, 1 pm Central, 7 pm UK).
Pricing for the workshop is billed in $CAD and converts to approximately $55.00 USD.
What will we be covering?
In our dashboards, we’ll cover all the settings, starting with the BASICS at the top and ending with the DANGER ZONE at the bottom.
We will go over each setting's purpose, whether or not you need certain ones, and why you should or shouldn’t use them.
On our homepages, we’ll cover:
What each preset homepage layout looks like and which one might be best for you.
Advanced layout blocks and how to customize them.
How proper branding and image placements enhance your reader’s experience.
What to include on your navigation bar.
How to create tidy groupings that make your homepage more navigation-friendly.
I’ll show you how to implement the grey call-to-action bar you may have seen on other homepages.
Pinned posts & Hero posts, and how to best use them to your advantage.
This will be a two-hour live Zoom session.
The first 75 minutes will be me screen-sharing while you feverishly take notes.
The remainder of the session will be live Q&A time, which is SO valuable. Your cohorts often ask questions you didn’t even know you had.
And, since I’m a chronic over-deliverer, my time is flexible. I’m always available to hang out beyond our allotted time to answer extra questions.
(Just ask and how long we hung out after hours last time 😁)
If you can’t make it to the live workshop…
The session will be recorded and available for purchase afterward. Live attendees will also receive the replay.
Save the date!

Won’t make session, but would love to pay for video release after thank you
How do we get the replay? I paid for the workshop but couldn’t make it live.
