Oh, thank you for this. I do use emails here a bit but not being able to schedule or automate them has been a definite hindrance. I'm very much an all or nothing person when it comes to my email marketing. I want to set it when I'm in the mood and feeling bold, then walk away and not have to think (rethink) about it later
I have received a couple of these just lately and was going to pop over to ask you how to do this too! I love the idea of showing new subscribers some of my old stuff!
Unfortunately, some things are beyond my knowledge and skill. I don't work for Substack and without actually being able to get into your dashboard to look around, I'd be giving blind advice. π My apologies!
It's an active publication. There's no way to "archive" it....I just dont use it. It's been dormant for at least a year. And I did test the feature on my active pub to no avail.
Kristi, Thank you for boldly going first and showing us your experience. The automations feature seems like a smart way to increase the value of the platform. I'm rooting for Substack and you to figure it out and make it more reliable and more intuitive for people who write well and do better at understanding customers' minds than learning tools, technology, dashboards, and how the sausage is made.
Aww thanks Georgia! Glad to go first and make all the mistakes for you π Unfortunately, i have no hand in making it work better as I have zero clout with the makers behind Substack lol.
I was wondering when this would happen with Substack we can now a) personalize automations thanks @yana and b) automate them Substack really has so many crazy amazing options
This is an exciting new feature! I don't see this option on my dashboard yet either, and I also have paid options set up. Hopefully it will roll out to everyone soon.
Sometimes things are rolled out geographically - or it's more about servers / databases (how and where the publication is stored on Substack's end) than the publications themselves.
oh I thought you said in the beginning it was archived. Maybe itβs still in beta and they are working on fixing the bugs before sending it out everywhere. Love the idea though and have been waiting for this to be a thing! No I donβt have it on my dashboard yet
Yah I did say archived but that's just my way of telling people not to subscribe because they won't ever receive a newsletter. I have personally archived myself from writ8ng it π
I skimmed the article and just took away the premise that automations were a thing nowβ¦dang.. maybe @Adam Fraiel or @Finn Tropy might wanna take a look??
I am 100% okay with failing in public because Iβm human-- Hereβs to βDoing things scared and imperfectly!β
The above was absolutely the best part of your post! Well done, and I'm cheering you on here, Kristi-- most inspiring post I'll see today!! πππππππͺπ
Mark, thank you so much!! I seriously almost trashed the whole thing in exchange for a different tutorial. What a great community we have here. Thanks for being part of it!
So is this going to rival kit.com etc.? Are automations (when they work) free and can you have more than 1 sequence?
Canβt wait to try this out! Thanks for sharing π©·π¦©

Louise, if you do try this one, please let me know how it goes!
Will do π§‘

Now going back to read more of your post.
If you end up trying this out, let us know how it goes!
I will - I like the idea. Many people subscribe then kind of disappear- I would love to connect!
Thank you for sharing ideas
The very concept of this kinda terrifies meβ¦.. but Iβll head off and have a listen soon.
Can you tell me if I can get my Substack out of prediction markets and how to do it?
Unfortunately, some things are beyond my knowledge and skill. I don't work for Substack and without actually being able to get into your dashboard to look around, I'd be giving blind advice. π My apologies!
Thank you
Wow! Thank you KristiπΉ
Doesn't look like this is universal yet and you probably couldn't set this up with that publication because it's archived and not active

I will always heart your posts anyway, but I will press that heart harder when you share your mess ups (that might not even be your mess ups anyway).
Aww thank you Zach!! And yah, I still don't know if it's my problem or the machine lol. I'm wait8ng for someone in the comments to correct me
I don't see that option. Did they roll it out to only a select few?
I'm pretty sure everyone will have it because the publication I demonstrated with in my video isnt even active and it still has the feature.
Make sure you go to your dashboard but NOT all the way into settings.
This is an exciting new feature! I don't see this option on my dashboard yet either, and I also have paid options set up. Hopefully it will roll out to everyone soon.
Iβm so sorry I did this post prematurely. I had no idea that not everyone got the feature but hopefully itβll be out for everyone soon!
Thatβs OK! It gives me plenty of time to plan my sequences. π
it's not universal yet it's not on mine and I've got paid subscribers a perks page set up and the read aloud option but no automations
That's interesting because Dog Snobs is such a small publication with zero activity in at least a year and yet, it's got the feature. So bizarre.
that is bizarre I thought I had the whole some publications get their posts read option figured out but found out itβs more random that I thought.
Sometimes things are rolled out geographically - or it's more about servers / databases (how and where the publication is stored on Substack's end) than the publications themselves.
this changes everything! great share
Except that it didn't work. I'm hoping to find someone who has used it successfully and tell me what I did wrong in the video.
it's most likely because you're publication was not active - there is no way for that to go out.
It's still a live publication. I just dont use it. And I tried on my current publication as well, still get that same error.
Are you using the feature?

@stacksave I'll have a look a bit later. Walking my dog now.
Thank you! Dogs first...everything else later π
No doubt that it is a great addition for sure! I think most Substackers have been waiting for this.
Thank you π
