I was JUST asking this question in a writers group today. This is great. Will definitely try this. I often get emails back (replies) from readers who say they loved my post, but unless I know them personally I'm not going to reply back to them from my personal email. I will say, a lot of people (older usually) just insist that they don't want another app - or they just can't figure out how Substack works. It's not for everyone I suppose, but this might help. Thanks you.
Miriam, you're right about "another app". My mom reads some of mine but never engages because she doesnβt want to create an account and have an app, etc.
I hope implementing this helps with your engagement!
Two questions: 1) You recommended this tool go AFTER your content, but you also said sometimes non-app readers donβt scroll down that far. Is that still where youβd put it? 2) How did you do the framed CTA message? As a graphic and inserted or is there something Substack offers to frame text?
1. After your content still isnt nearly as far down as the footer with the default grey icons. You're free to place it wherever you want, personal preference π
2. Are you referring to the text framed in red in my screenshot?? Is that the CTA text you meant?
Wow, I thought I had poked around and found all these things, but I definitely did not know about this button. Heading over to add it nowβ¦to my newsletter template and to my welcome email. You always send me away with something cool to do.
Thanks for this great tip. And I guess we can also provide the website link and not just the app link if readers want to comment, etc.?
Absolutely! It's just important that they know they can physically interact and engage with your newsletter.
Love this tip! I don't do it...but i might start!
You may have already answered this: Whereβs the best place to put the app button?
I would say at the end of your newsletter. Lots of people who read in their inboxes donβt really know they can interact by leaving comments.
Once again, thanks for pointing out the obvious!
I did not know this! This is great.

Great idea, I appreciate you sharing this reminder.
I never considered doing this Kristi. I love your easy to implement practical ways to improve our Substacks. Thank you so much!
Daria, youβre most welcome! I hope they help!
They do! Thank you Kristi.
Never even occurred to me despite being told by friends who never liked my posts, just told me in a text they enjoyed it. Easy peasy. Thanks, Kristi!
This is a great tip, thank you!
Thanks for sharing Kristi. I always include a share or comment, but this is a great one to rotate in. Will be implementing this week.
Another helpful winner! Just added to my welcome email. Thank you!
Thank you soooo very much for this tip, Kristi.

I was going to ask this after reading it. Glad I scrolled down. LOL

Yes
Oh, I just used that red outline to highlight my screenshot. It's a square outline I added in Paint, it doesn't exist in Substack.
Got it, thanks.
I would think you could just insert the CTA as a pull quote or a block quote.
Yup, you can do it however you like. Anything that highlights it is great!

Oooh, I hadnβt thought of thatβ¦putting it on my welcome page. The About page. And other places.
Hahaha I'm glad I'm still able to introduce cool things! Iβve been writing this newsletter for so long I sometimes feel like I'm out of cool tips.
Sooper dooper!!!
