Good question, Jefferson. I have to put in all kinds of personal hours keeping up with the tweaks and features! Hence paid subscriptions really help because I don't just sit down and write newsletters. A lot goes on behind the scenes here π
(I was always the "smart, clever one" until I started using Substack!)
But it's UI is definitely ... uh...shall we say, "different." And as you've pointed out, it changes fairly often.
So, if you're NOT a 'stack insider, how were YOU able to figure out all these tweaks and what are mostly 'essential' knowledge for using the platform? π―
And why did they choose to do things this way? π€«
Like giving 'tags' their own meaning, but making it essential knowledge for creators--with no instructions?!!! π΅βπ«
I mean, it seems like a "foundational" piece of info.
I understand why they elected to make their support "difficult" and almost non-existent (cost savings), but how exactly do they expect their users -- Creators -- to figure it out?!

β¬οΈβ¬οΈI put in the work to learn so I can teach everyone else! Hence paid subscriptions asking for support. A LOT of work goes on behind the scenes of this newsletter!
PS: I see you purchased your spot for the workshop but have not registered yet. Make sure to register if you want the replay. The registration link was on your purchase receipt.
Hi Kristi, I started to register for your workshop on 4/18, but there is a discrepancy in the cost. I see $39 at the top and $28 in the sentence below that.
I don't think I'll be able to join you on the 18th, but since I'm a paid subscriber, I'll be sure to catch the replay. It's such an important topic. I think I'm using tags pretty well since I've read some of your earlier posts about them, but I always learn something new from you.
So glad to hear someone spread the actual true word about tags. Still too many people out there saying they are like social media hashtags for discover ability!
Thats okay...you literally support every single workshop I do π You deserve a break! Besides, there will be another free coffee chat in May. Plus I'm sure we will have our own coffee date soon!

Well, geez, Kristi!
I for one would LOVE more access to you!
I iook forward to your "upcoming announcement."
You're so smart! And clever.

Yup, I think I explained that in the post. I typed it in USD in the post but my payment processor displays in CAD as I am Canadian π

Absolutely! It's always good to brush up π
So glad to hear someone spread the actual true word about tags. Still too many people out there saying they are like social media hashtags for discover ability!
They are not!! I even saw a comment fro Hamish McKenzie himself about this, several months ago!
Yep I saw that as well! And still some people remain stubborn and give out misinformation. Appreciate your work Kristi!
I reorganized my tags after meeting with you, and I love how it streamlines my content now! And makes for a very organized website. π
Yesss!!!!! I'm so glad you found tags so useful. Your publication thanks you for it π
I will be there. Great! Looking forward.
Me too, Sabine! I hope the time works out for you.
Ohhhh what a fabulous workshop!!
If our βstacks LOOK and feel good people are more likely to hang around and peek around.
Iβm so sad I canβt attend live because of rehearsal but DEFINITELY signing up so I can get that recording!!

Yesssss we need to do another live too!!
I'm on board for it! I'll check my calendar.
Ooh...yes. I definitely need to get to grips with tags more
The original version f this did wonders for the appearance of my Substack!
Right!! Testimony to how important tags really are! I really wish Substack hadn't called them "tags" because it has lead to everyone misusing them.
