TBH I don't know that people are ignoring it in as much as it's somewhat challenging to find out that these options exist. If it wasn't for these threads I wouldn't know about half of this stuff. That combined with the fact that the interface is radically different depending on what device you're on - where are all the options on iPad btw? - make it challenging. But good to know there's more stuff to choose from
I’m so glad you addressed this, Kristi! I noticed that too when first coming on here to write my first thing.. which I thought automatically has to be a Welcome Post and About Page but, much to my chagrin, was surprised how few people had the latter! It’s such an inviting way to let others in to know a wee bit about you. (But, yes, admittedly, it took me a while to figure out what to say there too. There are so many different ways one can write this!)
Anyway, thanks again. It’s so good, I had to forward it as a note! 😏
I’ve recently tweaked both my About Page and my Welcome email for unpaid subscribers.
It’s possible I have my paid welcome email for paid subscribers repeat what my welcome email for unpaid subscribers says, but I’d have to double check.
If that’s the case, the reason they are the same is that I’m not trying to upsell to subscriptions per se, I’m trying to get more money coming in over all with Value for Value donations.
I think, however, I may need to tweak my welcome emails again after copying a post from Medium explaining my handle.
Tom, it's always good practice to review welcome emails and About pages. I check every few months to make sure it's all up to date and still makes sense.
