Taylor, I may or may not raise prices in the future but I think it's too soon. I'm considering the first year as a trial run but I'm already noticing that after accounting fees, software expenses to run the business, time it takes to communicate even before taking on a new client....I'm not actually making what I charge. But the learning process is super fun and enlightening!
As for creating two currency tiers, that sounds like a logistical nightmare I'm not prepared to deal with 😂 My own administrative work is a part-time job!
Loved this article & I hope you raise your prices! A quick thought: if you raise your prices in CAD, you could tell us what the equivalent is in USD in the description. Less techy, but hopefully effective?
Kourtney, thanks for the vote of confidence! I struggle with a lot of things, including raising prices but I never thought about translating the CAD price to USD out in the open.
It's interesting though, not a single person has questioned my rates except one guy who probably makes more money than all of us 😂
Yes, I agree with Taylor. You should simply switch it to US$. If you want a line in the sand start Jan 1, 2025 with new pricing. (And there I go telling you what to do🤣, oops, sorry!)
I know you do the stuff we don't know how to do ... or even want to do ... but I loved just strategizing with you also. Being able to talk about my own stuff with someone who's in the game and already a bright beacon of logic and creativity, is priceless CAD or US.
Joyce, in your case in particular, I hope I'm doing ENOUGH for you. You've been so communicative and generous and I know I'm answering your questions. But when we hit that ONE question I didn't know, I felt the self-doubt.
That question has left space for me to continue to think about what I’m trying to do. I’m wondering if I’m jumping from one pigeon-hole to another. Do not fret, I’m not done picking your lively brain.
Kristi - I will sing your praises and refer you out to anyone and everyone who will listen to me. The project you did for me made my homepage look AMAZING and is so much more user friendly. You listened to my all-over-the-place ideas, joined me for a moment in my crazy chaos, and got down and dirty with cleaning out the clutter of the closet in a massive re-org than made everything just WORK. I now have an easy to scroll listing of mini-courses, and a full and accessible library of Mindfulness Exercises that makes it easy for subs to see why they should upgrade to paid.
(you can use this as a testimonial on your page)
You most certainly SHOULD raise your prices. Let me tell you, when I started coaching back in the early 2000s, I set my rates and i didn't raise them for 15 years! When I finally did, I had a handful of clients balk. But then I got an influx of new clients who said to me "Your service is absolutely worth every penny!" I even had a client tell me that she didn't hire me for years because I didn't charge enough (which made her think my service was "cheap") She was waiting for me to own my worth and raise my rates.
I can't wait to see what your headline writing service brings because girlfriend, you are a master at that skill...and I will be a repeat customer on that one.
btw - the best of the best teachers always say "I want to teach myself out of a job" and if part of your work is to help non-techy people learn how to be comfortable with the techy back end of Substack, and they are learning it and not coming back to you...you have a pixie dust magick in you!
Excuse me for a moment while I pick myself up off the floor 😂😂 Teri, you're that one person EVERYONE needs in their cheering section. I mean it. I'm not just saying that because I got a behind-the-scenes look at all your paid content.
I super appreciate the relationship we've built AND that you didn't just delete my email after our Google doc with all the purple typing lol. I hope you wipe the table clean with all your coaching awesomeness.
And thank you for the testimonial. I will get that added to my website before the weekend is through. You're awesome!
Karen, you're exactly the person I think of when I say I can't wait to decorate my new office space in my new home. I bet it's going to surprise a lot of people and you'll probably be one of the first to see it.
Thank you for the good moving juju....we shall reconvene!
I may be contacting you as I’m still not public - only my comments reach the reading public and I cannot post or restack my fav reader’s posts on the mainstream - they show up only on my profile.
But I have followers! Amazing on that (!) since they’re basing only on my personal comments over the months I’ve been on.
Now I’m entertaining the idea of a full blown stack, (not interested in making money, honestly I didn’t even know you could do that!) PLUS I have to find a “schtick” and a title as to what I’m all about. That’s the hard part - how do I want to present myself?
There must a “set-up” process to go through to get official. I haven’t figured out how or where to go for that - it’s not just switch that you throw.
But I love Substack and read and LEARN a lot. Sincerely, A Late Bloomer
Haha sadly, there is no ON switch for Substack. 😁 Wouldn't that just be the best?
If you ever do decide to "flip the switch" and you need a hand, I'm always here. In the meantime, we all appreciate your readership! It's a wonderful community 😊
I haven't added any new ones yet, too busy packing to move. But PDF ebooks will be there, thanks to one lovely client who asked me to make one and she loved it.
I just don't understand how you have the time for all of this. Are you glued to your phone/computer? I'm asking you this honestly--no judgment. I just don't feel there is enough time in the day to do all of this and have a real life. Perhaps I should sleep less? That said, in the few interactions I have had with you, you have been so kind and helpful. Thank you Kristi and keep doing it how you do it because it's working! sabrinalabow.substack.com
Well Sabrina, it's my full-time job. I don't go to work anywhere else so I work from home doing this during the day and then I have a pretty fun life with my dog the rest of the time. 😊
I could never keep this up if I had a job AND did this.
I wondered about your service pricing for CAD. You should just raise your prices!
Or make an American check out 🤣

Donna, if not for you telling me what to do, this business may not exist soooo.....😁

And i'm here when you're ready...always!
Fabulous service 🌺
Thank you Janet, you're so kind!
❤️
You are a super whiz❣️ and I have absolutely loved working with you.
Thank you so much for the mention. It’s pretty cool that you get my dorky humor.
I can attest that Kristi is the most patient, creative, understanding, fun, computer wizard you will ever work with.
Thanks for the graduation scroll. I’ll be back (for certain!) when I’m ready for my Masters Degree. 🤗
HA!! You're welcome and I hope the college dorm life isn't overwhelming 😁😁

Ohhhh I missed you alright!! Kept thinking I somehow missed your latest ‘stack lol.
Kristi, you have been generous and helpful and quite frankly my Substack GO TO!
To an organized and easy move and can’t wait to see what you’ve got cooking… and can’t wait to chat soon! 😜

Yay can’t wait!!
You’re a total STAR! 🌟
Nobody has more sparkle than you, Claire! ✨️
✨😝❤️❤️❤️
Love this list, and am so proud to be hinted at a few times, I think.
Either way, for purely selfish reasons, I don't think you should raise your prices, at least not too much too soon. :)
Yes I was absolutely hinting at you specifically. I'm learning plenty working with your content and you write important words! 😊
And don't worry, nothing is changing in the near future.

This is a great list! I'm heading directly over to the services you provide to see what else I need help with.
I haven't added any new ones yet, too busy packing to move. But PDF ebooks will be there, thanks to one lovely client who asked me to make one and she loved it.
