Hi Kristi, in all the publications you've seen and for best email deliverability, do you recommend treating the Substack publication predominantly like an email list (content is relatively short) or a blog (where content's longer & more detailed)?
I would say more like a blog but also, there are no rules here. Many writers go long-form here. There are plenty of authors, journalists, etc on Substack.
Oh wow, that's awesome to hear! I always wonder what goes on behind the scenes here because I've had a surge of traffic lately for no apparent reason. Thanks for letting me know!
I think a lot of people with for that but that was never Substack's intent. That's what Convertkit is for I suppose. Their only downfall is there's no "blogging" option like here.
Can one schedule a direct email to select subscribers or no?
Unfortunately, no. We can't schedule these. I wish we could!
That's a bummer! Sending direct emails is going to be a pain given my email list is significantly different to the blog/publication.
Yup. I guess you could draft it ahead of time and then send it on the day you want it to go. Kind of a crappy alternative lol.
I'm already looking for plugins and whether someone was able to innovate and design a scheduling tool.

Thank you for these fabulous tips.
It's always my pleasure, Charisse π
This is π
Question: does that email get archived somewhere in substack?
Yes it stays where all your posts are in the dashboard. π
Thanks so much for this super helpful feature. I was wondering if this was possible. Excellent!
Yaay!! Happy emailing!
What a handy tip! Thanks for sharing ππΌ
Very useful, thank you π

I didn't know this. Thank you so much for the information.
Great point. Iβve done it a couple of times but I never realized it until you mentioned it π
Thanks. I had no idea!
When I first joined Substack a couple years ago this wasnβt possible and I havenβt thought to check if that changed, so thank you!
You're welcome! It's nice to see these little improvements as Substack evolves, isn't it!
Helpful info! Thank you @Kristi Keller
This is such great advice I wish I knew it much sooner. Thanks for your help!
My pleasure!
Kristi, May 25th you posted this. Today is December 2nd. Substack still serving it up in the feed. Impressive! ~ Shelby

Sequencessssssss I need automated sequencessssssss

Thatβs why I automated the new substack subs to my CK. Just give us a normal sequence like the rest of the world π
