Your video is super clear and helpful! I donβt have custom pages and but I need a custom page for my watercolor art and another for commissions. Thanks, Kristi!
I'm going to use (or try to) the Custom Pages to untangle the mess I created in my first 'stack.
I had planned to write about different topics ("Words Matter," "Girls&Boys," Recipes, etc), so I created several Sections. Before I knew it, there were too many to fit the NavBar across the top!
At one point I decided to focus on "Getting Grounded," so I renamed it (not the URL, but the Wordmark), and started simply dumping new posts into the Home page.
It worked ... until it didn't.
The last time I posted an article, it apparently went out to readers, my wife said she rec'd the email & read the article--but when I go to the site, I can't find it!
WTF happened?!
IDK. I still can't find that article, it's never updated.
It SHOULD be at the Home page.
It's not.
So, I'm going to try to use Custom Pages to re-organize my whole 'stack.
Sure hope it works!
(I've built websites before, from the ground up, using html & CSS. But...this is MUCH different! Cuz here, I'm using Substack's UI.)
Anyway, thanks for letting loose all this valuable info, like you always do!
I have one, Submit Your Stack, for people to learn about my crowdreview service and to purchase one. And I have an unpublished page for my freebies - I give the link to that page when someone tips me on ko-fi or purchases a crowdreview. Substack definitely is a place you can have a full website, free too. And have your own domain name, although that isn't free.
Great tutorial! Thanks, Kristi. Is it possible to create a Waitlist? Is it possible to take payments for a coaching session? How does one link all of that?
Yes, there are ways to do all of that, just not DIRECTLY through Substack but through custom buttons. You still need to have a way to take payments (Paypal, Stripe, Wave, etc) but then you can use custom buttons that link to those. Same goes for calendars, scheduling apps, etc.
That post highlights only ONE payment processor but you could use whichever one you like.
If you need more help than I have outlined here, Iβm happy to book an hour with you and run through it. But the short answer is, yes you can do all those things via a custom page but no, Substack doesnβt have pay links and calendar tools built in. YOu still have to link to those separately.
Perfect timing for this topic Kristi. Question I have: when an outside visitor clicks on the link for this landing page, are they asked to subscribe to see it?

My pleasure, Maureen! I'm so glad this helped π
Thank you! I think we can easily use custom pages to create a shop & pair that with Stripe product links & checkout.
Thanks Kelly, I was curious about using Stripe!
Absolutely you can! It's so versatile!
Thanks, Kristi!

Brilliant use of custom pages. There are so many ways to build here!
This is so helpful Kristi. It helps so much to see what you're doing while you're explaining it. Thank you!
My pleasure Daria!

I wrote a post about adding payment/checkout links: https://unstackit.substack.com/p/how-to-set-up-instant-payment-checkouts

Good to know. Thanks.
Great tutorial. Thank you.
You're welcome Sabine!
Yes, I am going to create a custom landing page for a new offer I will launch soon. Thanks for these instructions.
You're welcome Julie!
Oh, Kristi, you made my day by using my little ol' page as an example here. Thank you, my friend! π€π
My pleasure! I like the way you've used yours, perfect example!
Thanks for the mention and showing me how to do it!!
You're welcome! I meant to give you a heads up last week that I was using your page but time got away from me.
I'll get started on your tasks tomorrow π
Thank you for this, again.
You're welcome π
Iβm definitely going to play around and look into this π thanks for sharing!
