That's a great practice, Arjun!

Absolutely agree. I never publish without the preview. This is a super Substack feature. I publish my newsletter on LinkedIn as well, but it doesn't have this capability. So, I use a workaround where i first have the preview opened in my mail window and do the correcting/ editing on the Substack version. When the corrections are done, I send a final preview to myself. I can just copy the entire newsletter and paste it into LinkedIn, fully edited. Most of the formatting elements transfer.

Thanks, Kristi! This is nice to know.

I also want to thank you for the help you've given me (for free!). For instance, I started with just a "reader" account with my personal email.

After seeing what Substack was about, I decided to open a writer account (using my business email).

But I forgot that I had 2 accounts. I would read things & comment using my "reader" account, but when ppl looked me up to check out whatever I was writing about, they'd find nothing.

It created other problems, too, but I don't remember.

Anyway, it was you that pointed it out and informed me!

So I fixed it.

Since then, I've created 2 more accounts and sorted out my topics. (The 3rd account, I'm experimenting with writing fiction, lol. I even have a few subscribers!)

My biggest problem is getting more 'scribers. Ppl seem to like what I write, but I don't get any comments. I've tried using Notes, same thing.

I'll working on ways to explain value of my content, to build my 'scriber count.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for all your help over the past months!

👍👍👍

It's always my pleasure. And keep in mind, Substack is definitely a long game. I wish we could all get instant fame and fortune here, like the celebrities who have Substacks 😆😆 But alas...we can't all be Dan Rathers and Elizabeth Gilberts.

I do this with every newsletter. For some reason, I catch the typos and errors in the preview that I don't in the editing mode.

Learnt something new today. I typically don't think about how my newsletter looks.

Will give this a try now.

Thanks! I admit I tend to not email it to myself first - probably should - but I DO use the preview thing every time. It’s really helpful for me to reread every sentence then - helps me catch stuff I missed in my previous editing. Plus, when it’s a paid post with a preview, I can check whether I’ve put the paywall in a good spot (is there bought in the preview to entice folx to upgrade, etc). Finally, it’s when I can see if I’ve missed putting in CTA buttons!

Those are all great things to double-check. I always catch mistakes in a different view!

I also do this if I'm writing directly on substack, as a way of saving a draft in case anything corrupts etc
