This is so great, thank you! My wish for Substack would be to be able to manage notifications per subscription; some I want to get in my inbox, others I don't. Still, this is a big step in the right direction!
I am new to Substack. I think theyβre notifications of posts. If I open the email and click βunsubscribeβ that stops that Substack notification. But, doesnβt that defeats its purpose? Perhaps if I unsubscribe to individual Substacks, I will still be following them, and still get in-app notifications. Do I have to unsubscribe to everyone, or just trash the emails? I have tuned off everything I can.
Thank you. Thereβs only one email I want from Substack, and thatβs Heather Cox Richardson. Is it possible to only get that one and not any of the others? Right now I have all turned off.
I think the email notifications are the downside of the platform, users should have easy option to search/ read only by the app - feels a bit like onus is on creator to warn their community in advance, like beware: too many emails sorry!! Hereβs how you can swtich them off
I have mine set to Prefer Push but I still get so many emails. Many of my free subscriptions, if I go to the settings for them individually and try to toggle off the email notifications, I get unsubscribed entirely.
But why is it called "Push"? I thought "Push" means the server pushes stuff out to you? Has the vocabulary changed since my IT days or have the youngsters forgot traditional UI nomenclature?
Wow, thank you! I hate reading something in Substack, then having to go get rid of it from my email. I was wondering if it was possible to do this. I love these simple posts with just one thing being solved. Thank you again βΊοΈ
About notifications, nobody knows how to answer me this, not even the bot: How do I know I have comments to old articles I wrote if I don't want Substack to tell me by email? Isn't there a feed for that?

That would be a great addition, hey?
Hmm, this option doesn't seem to exist now. Looks like the only choice is to get e-mails or unsubscribe.
Oh wow, that doesn't sound right! Substack changes things faster than I can keep up. I'll check into this tomorrow when I'm back in my office.
I get tons of emails with all the global setting to off. Now, I send all Substack emails to spam. They are deleted after 30 days.
Do you mean notification emails or newsletters?

Very very unclear, I'm just going to rid of this ANNOYING AP.

Unfortunately, we don't have the option to pick and choose.
I'd love more of a walk-through on how to unsubscribe from unsubscribe notifications. I don't see that as an option in my settings :[
KB, here's a link that covers most of the "unsubscribe" info you'll ever need!

still don't see it here, but I'm hoping unsubscribing from "new subscribers" notifications is enough! tyππΎ
Hmmm, that's strange you don't see it! I hope your alternative works.
Mine just takes me to my iPhone settings page when I try to change it. Has anyone else had this happen?
Try doing it on your laptop.
Ahh..ok. Thanks for writing this! Iβve considered getting a new email address to get away from all the notifications π
Hahaha noooooo! Not necessary π
Thank you! I recently unsubscribed to everything because of this feature.
Thank you for sharing! Needed this today.

LOL I think that's a question for Substack. I have no idea why they name things the way they do!

You're welcome Michelle! That's always been my goal, just bite-sized easy tip that work! π
game changer!

The notifications will still be on the app.
Many thanks, Kristi, but where can I find such notifications?
When you're on the app, your notifications are the little bell in the tip right corner.
This is so helpful!
