In our part of the world, only 2 hours away by car means we’re practically neighbours! My jobs are never that close.

Just drove home from work last night. Five hours of me-time listening to tunes on the highway.

Wow that's quite the work commute! I'd be way to nervous to do it in the thick of winter. Do you ever get snowed out of going home?

I probably should, but, no. I just drive slower

You're braver than I am. I remember coming home from Edmonton in a whiteout many years ago. It was blinding, there were even Greyhound busses in the ditch. It took me 6 hours. Never again!

Ok that would probably be the line I wouldn’t cross lol

I dive up on Sunday and back on Thursday night. They are paying for a room for 4 nights so if I stay I have to live in the truck

I love the connection of Substack and that I now have friends all over the world I never would have met, like you!

Also, I love your graphic!

Thanks Donna. And next time we meet, maybe it'll be in your neck of the woods! I'd love to make the drive in spring.

I usually don't write on a set schedule, due to other commitments, so my delivery days vary. I post something every 10-14 days or so. But as far as others go, I would say Mondays and Fridays seem to be quite popular... 😎

Funny how the days vary depending on who we subscribe to. With my main pub I chose Tuesdays to publish thinking I'd be unique lol. Nope!

It is very interesting to see what days different writers are picking. Another reason I decided not to lock things to a certain day, was that I wanted to be free to experiment and see if sending things on different days had any effect on things. It kind of does, a little. The last two I sent on Sundays, and you're right, that does seem to be very saturated. People are, of course, busy at the weekends and so the opens and views tend to come in later. Thursdays seem to get the most opens on the actual day, in my experience. But there are lots of other factors to consider as well. They might have just particularly liked the title that day, for example! 😎

Yeah I think we could pick apart that details forever and still not know the real rhyme or reason. I see plenty of late-day opens on Tuesdays because most people go to work during the week. They many not have time to read til evening.

Well never know for sure but good for you for experimenting!

Absolutely. The most important thing is getting the work up there, regardless of when it is actually posted. It's always going to be the wrong time for someone, but ultimately, the writing will always find the people it is meant to find... 😎

Making worldwide connections here is VERY cool! If I'm ever framed for some heinous crime and forced to flee, I'm pretty sure I could find support across North and South America, Europe, and Australia! 😁

Bahahaha!!!! Well in the movies, Americans always jump the border to hide out in Canada. I have a couch hidden out here in the suburbs if you ever need it 😁

Not surprised you have international clients. So exciting. 🥰

I don't know why, but the way you said that makes me sound like a spy 😁

Hahaha great minds!! You must be wearing Reebok sweatpants today. I am!

Haha. I’m wearing really old Wild Fox sweats that I got on sale. All my sweats were on sale purchases.

I hate when the fabric pills. But if it’s attached to memories I won’t give away.

BTW I don’t sweat in my sweatpants. Do you?

I love that how we met was so random. I was over on Office Hours lamenting that it was all about to end and I saw your comment on someone elses comment. Or maybe you liked my comment, I can't remember now... either way I went over to check out your stack and lo and behold you are the person I've been looking for for months to help me sort out some back end issues... and now I've ended up in your latest post, all the way from the other side of the world, how cool is that!

I giggled a little at, "lamenting that it was all about to end!" I know you're referring to office hours but you made it sound like the world 😁

Yes, serendipity works in mysterious ways! I'm happy to have been able to take a load off your to-do list!

What day do you deliver?- I deliver on the day when the stars align, the coffee pot never empties, and my WiFi signals are strong and unyielding. It's a day much like a Tuesday but feels more like a Friday afternoon, right before the world slips into the casual chaos of the weekend. Let's call it "Frituesday," the magical 8th day of the week known only to those who dare to live by the pen and thrive on the unpredictability of inspiration.

What day is your inbox the loudest?- That would be on "Emailgeddon," a day that falls after Frituesday. It's when every newsletter, subscription, and distant relative decides to bombard my inbox with the urgency of a thousand suns. The noise is not of sound, but of purpose, demanding attention like a cat at 3 AM. It's a cacophony of offers, updates, and the odd message from a Nigerian prince, all drowning in the sea of my literary genius waiting to be unleashed upon the world once more.

Other burning questions you didn’t ask but I answered anyway! -

Why do birds suddenly appear every time you I’m near?- Clearly, the birds are undercover agents tasked with keeping an eye on a prolific Substack scribbler. They’ve been briefed that my words hold the secret to the universe’s most pressing questions, like “Why do we never see baby pigeons?” and “Can a woodchuck really chuck wood?”

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? - Absolutely, it does. The tree dramatically sighs, murmurs a brief apology to the surrounding flora for the inconvenience, and then, with a thunderous crash, lays down, muttering, “Well, that’s me done.” Meanwhile, a nearby squirrel, an avid reader of my micro short stories, nods appreciatively at the tree’s commitment to existential drama.

What’s the deal with airline food? - The real question is, why does it taste like a combination of cardboard and regret? Because it’s secretly a culinary critique on modern society’s blandness, urging readers like you to spice things up with my flavorful musings on life. It’s a call to arms, or rather, forks, to demand more zest, both on our plates and in our political discourse.

How do you solve a problem like Maria? - By signing her up for a Substack subscription to my musings, of course. After a few doses of my raving political pieces, mushy ramblings, bad rap, Haiku poems, and micro short stories, Maria won’t just be climbing every mountain; she’ll be moving them with the sheer power of her newfound insights.

What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow? - It’s variable, dependent on whether the swallow has recently read one of my haikus. If so, it’s significantly faster, propelled by the enlightenment my words offer. In a world where swallows are known for their discerning taste in literature, mine is the content that gives them wings.

WOWWWW!!! That was the most well thought out answer I've ever seen 😂😂

And I haven't eaten airline food in forever! I'd rather bring my own cheese and crackers than pay $17 for theirs!
