I had already done this, but went down the rabbit hole with your previous posts to figure out how to post links to my website on my Substack page (figured it out, even with the new dashboard). Thx! Do you still recommend using the term "Blog" (rather than Substack) to link directly to Substack on our websites?
My new one is just adamrockwell.com. I uncoupled it from Substack custom domain just so I could kinda post short stuff over there or book marketing stuff.
Go to your "Navigation bar links" in your settings, then click on the 3 dots to the right. Click "edit" and in the box that pops up, add the arrow emojis.
To get emojis via your keyboard, click the windows key, then . (period), and an emoji search box pops up. You'll find arrows in there.
Last time I tried these on my Wordpress site, they didn't work, because Wordpress (at least with the theme I'm using) doesn't support Substack embeds. Do you know if that's changed, or any workarounds?
I discovered the issue, which is that Wordpress blocks iframes on all Wordpress.com free plans (which I'm on). Oh well.
I already link out from my website to Substack with a simple hyperlink (your solution #2), but I was hoping to embed a direct subscribe widget per your solution #1. Oh well, I'll wait till whenever I upgrade my website. Thanks anyway!
Mike, have you tried substackapi’s email widget? If your Wordpress theme can’t handle Javascript, that won’t work either, but if it does, it might be worth a try. https://substackapi.com/

That's great you figured it out! My work here is not in vain 😁
Re Blog vs Substack, I honestly thing its personal preference.
This presumes they’re going to my website!
Lol yes, it presumes that. My site doesn't get much traffic either but I'm convincing myself that someday I'll blow up and be famous 😄
I thought for a moment she was showing the middle finger and was thinking to myself this was perhaps not the best way to attract new readers. 😀
😅😅 You know, when I chose that picture, I considered that for a moment. But I went with it anyway because at least it would grab attention 😁
Great tips buddy!
I never would have thought to do this, but the first option tou described looks totally doable for me. Thanks!
There ya go!! Every little bit of traffic helps!
This is a great idea, I started a Wordpress site and will be doing this. (Don’t want to start another newsletter 😅😅)
LOL are you sure you don’t need more newsletters?? 😆😆
What’s your site?
LOL, yeah, for sure. I need ONE more 😂😂

Always a good idea to have your own web space.
Hi Kristi,
I already had these done before reading your helpful tips. There's a detail you did that I tried, and it did not work.
How did you get the pointers at "My website".
Thanks, great work, we have similarities in our work.
Cheers!
Robin
Do you mean the ➡️ icons in my nav bar?
Go to your "Navigation bar links" in your settings, then click on the 3 dots to the right. Click "edit" and in the box that pops up, add the arrow emojis.

Yes, ok, thanks much! I actually got it to work after asking, (through adding the icons to my page that is editable). So there are 2 ways to do it!
I haven't figured out how to delete sections in navigation bar yet I was able to toggle to "hide" in Settings.

Hmmm Mike, I wasn't aware of that with Wordpress. My websites are all on Squarespace.
Are you sure there isn't a plugin that could work with this code?
I guess the workaround would be the other two methods I mentioned.
I discovered the issue, which is that Wordpress blocks iframes on all Wordpress.com free plans (which I'm on). Oh well.

Ahhh yes, you have to be hosted somewhere other than free Wordpress. I haven't used Wordpress in many years, I forget a lot of its rules and issues.

Appreciate you sharing all these tips and tricks!
It’s always my pleasure!! I sometimes feel like they’re pretty basic but as I’ve learned, not everyone thinks of everything!
