How To Use Image Links To Get What You Want
Common knowledge for some isn't always obvious to others.
I’m assuming most of you know that I design custom call-to-action images for Substackers. In case you didn’t know it, I’ve covered a variety of different CTA examples in this post:
By far, the most popular CTA order I receive is for custom tip buttons, such as this one:
What many of you DON’T seem to know…
Surprisingly, most people who order CTAs from me don’t know how to make the image clickable and redirect it to where they want the reader to go. So, here is a super quick tutorial on how to add a link to your call-to-action image within your Substack posts.
This is SUPER simple:
Once you’ve placed your image in your post, click it once to highlight it. Then, head up to your Substack toolbar and hit the 🔗 button. Then paste the link of where you want them to go. It’s literally just like adding a text link but on an image instead.
Here’s a screenshot for reference:
If you’re using a tip CTA, you’ll link them to your Buy Me A Coffee or Ko-Fi page (you’ll have to set up an account with either of those).
If it’s a subscribe CTA, you’ll link them to your Substack subscribe page: www.yoursubstackURL/subscribe
If you’re selling a book, you’ll link them to your Amazon page or book website.
If you’re selling a course, link it to where they can register.
And so on….
An image in your post can direct readers to ANYWHERE you want them to go.
I hope you found this helpful! And if you would like me to design a custom call-to-action for anywhere you’d like your readers to go, you can order one right here. It’s the first one on the list.
If you feel weird and awkward about asking readers to tip you, weigh in on the “Great Debate” right here:
I feel like your Substack teaches me about the basics of using Substack which is actually very helpful
What’s sad is I never even considered making custom buttons for my calls to action. So so glad for your wisdom and inspiring post
