These are super cute! I just have one question - I made something similar to myself and someone told me we actually weren't supposed/ allowed to link to other monetization options from our Substack because we're supposed to be pushing specifically the substack subscriptions - do you know anything about that?
I've never heard of any hard rules about it. Of course Substack would like us to try monetizing strictly on the platform but as of now they don't offer a tipping or on-off payment option.
This is a great idea. Images are much more appealing and noticeable than just a plain piece of text as the link. I'm definitely going to be using this in the future... π
Kathleen, for these CTAs I usually use the size called βBlog bannerβ in the dropdown. Itβs the same one I use for my feature images and I think it works well.
AI realm is definitely NOT common to us with over 3/4 of a century of living and not in this language--it my fifth or sixth language, not my principal one. So thankyou!!
One thing I don't see in your instructions, and which I hope you will add, is the importance of using alt text for the image, for readers who can't see the image. In the case of a clickable image, the alt text should describe what happens when the link is clicked, ie, "Tip me on Ko-Fi."
Okay, thatβs just too obvious. Iβve been linking things since the Jurassic age of the internet and I didnβt know how to do this one. Thanks! I will definitely be able to use this.
I forgot to thank you Kristi when you showed me how to do this in the comments section a couple of weeks ago, I had so much fun creating them! Please accept my gratitude nowπ₯°
Templates are such a good idea too. Then all you have to do is duplicate it every week. I just love when people share helpful info for the masses to use.
Whatβs sad is I never even considered making custom buttons for my calls to action. So so glad for your wisdom and inspiring post
All good, that's what I'm here for!
Great π‘ ideas!!!

Yeah it made sense to me also that while it could be frowned upon it probably isnβt outright outlawed?

Great idea, Kristi! do you make the images in Canva pro? The other thing is there a size it has to be (pixels by pixels)?
I've been doing my own images, thumbnails, etc. for YT for a while and I have Canva pro so I was just wondering. Love your designs π
very nice βΌοΈ

I feel like your Substack teaches me about the basics of using Substack which is actually very helpful
Perfect!! That's exactly what I'm here for and I'm happy to help!

LC thank you for pointing this out!

Lol you're welcome! See, what's obvious to some is completely NOT to others. Glad to help! π
Now I need to hire you to make custom CTAs.
Thank you Kristi!

You made your own tip images?
Yes, I sketched one and also created one using Canvaπ
Tess @kristi I made my own too using Canva ! I added it to the bottom of all of my posts! Thanks for the inspiration!
Youβre welcome!
You're very welcome Tess!
Love your tips and tricks Kristi!!
Question: Is the CTA included if we're a yearly subscriber, or still additional? Thank you π
Ha I like your initiative π Unfortunately, I keep my business things separate from subscriptions.
Dividing lines are always helpful for everyone. Just needed the clarity. Thank you for the prompt response. See you soon!
This is really helpful! I was wondering how to use the Buy Me A Coffee button image you created for me π
Oh Lynn, you should have emailed me and asked!! I'm glad to have answered your question here π
I was going to but your post got to me first π
Always helpful Kristi thank you!
Iβve been playing with creating a template of sorts by saving them to drafts.
Iβve just started this and weβll see if it shaves off time from the creation part so I can get to the writing part. βΊοΈ
