I always wondered how to make an email banner and my brain would freeze up when I thought about dimensions and pixels. My eyes are unglazing now. Will try your suggestions. Thank you Kristi - this was helpful!
Excellent insight! I played around with our banner a year or two ago, and created some new ones, and then I kept forgetting to change them when I posted, so I stopped. Anyone else experience that and have any tips? Probably keep a checklist or something -- I just wish Substack would remind me like it does with the subscribe buttons!
So funny that this just came on my feed as I spent 3 hours today unsuccessfully trying to figure out how the heck to create a banner in this format until finally giving up.π Unfortunately, I'm not technically savvy enough to figure out how to utilize this space. I'll have to hire a teenager to help me design that part.
Thank you, Kristi! I'm just getting started on Substack and fighting my way through all the settings and configuration needed to launch a new publication (Family Business Is Better) over the next couple of weeks, so this post was REALLY helpful! Thank you so much.
Love this! Thank you for the reminder that our headers can do a lot of the heavy work for us: attracting readers/community members, subscribers, etc. Thinking about how I can better optimize my header now.
This was incredibly helpful. I just used this with a friend to create a new email banner for my Substack. Thank you!
Awesome!! You're welcome!
This was really an eye opener for me! Thanks for that! I will definitely use it. I will go on Canva and work on something. Again, thanks!
My pleasure!
Super helpful!
Great post, Kristi! Iβm going to do just this!
Excellent!! ππ

It's not that complicated. Just go to Canva and search for Twitter banners. Customize the ones you see or start from a blank canvas
Thanks! That does sound uncomplicated. Iβll try it.
You're welcome! My eyes glaze over with from plenty of things (mostly politics π€£) so I get it!!
I don't have that button. Is it only available in the app or only when you have paid subscription on?
most likely only on desktop
Which button?
I had no idea about the email banner! This was super helpful - Thank you! π
You're welcome, Lindsay!
Thanks for sharing! Going to get mine sorted this week.

Yah i think you mostly have to write it on your calendar...so manual lol.
I only change mine with the seasons and holidays. New Years is over so I suppose maybe Valentineβs will be next π
